Inspiring Sample Instruments.
Made with Love.

Our Story

Forest Samples was founded by Daniel Werner, a composer from Düsseldorf, Germany who has been creating music for brands, feature films, and museums for the last 15+ years. Growing up near the historic Neanderthal Valley, Daniel was deeply influenced by its rich history and natural beauty. This valley, named after 17th-century hymn composer Joachim Neander, inspired Daniel's creative journey.

Motivated by artists like Nils Frahm and Hans Zimmer, Daniel sought to explore the majestic pipe organ. Through a friend, he gained access to his hometown's local pipe organ. Supported by a grant from the German Federal Government for Culture and Media and GEMA, Daniel started creating the 'Neanderthal Pipe Organ' library in 2022.

Over three months, Daniel recorded, edited, mapped, and coded the library, featuring 990 samples with three mic positions and various effects. It was published via the free Pianobook Platform. The 'Neanderthal Pipe Organ' was very well received by the international composer community and featured in numerous blogs and forums. There was a longer presentation by Dan Keen on Christian Henson's Youtube channel. Howard Goodall (Mr. Bean) has praised the Neanderthal Pipe Organ in a friendly message to us. The library has been downloaded nearly 5,000 times on Pianobook, becoming a favorite among users.
